The basics on how a pool dome works.

How much does a pool dome cost?
Every dome is sized and anchored to your specific pool, so pricing is custom — but because there are no walls, framing, or construction, an air-supported dome costs a fraction of what a permanent glass or screen enclosure runs. It’s also temporary by design — up all winter, down for summer — so you avoid the expense and the permanent eyesore of a built structure, and your backyard keeps its open, manicured look when the weather is warm. Is a pool dome the same as a pool enclosure?
A pool dome is a type of pool enclosure — the air-supported kind. "Pool enclosure" is the general term for anything that covers a pool for sheltered, year-round use, which includes permanent glass or screen rooms as well as removable, air-supported domes like ours. The difference is that a dome needs no poles, walls, or permanent framing — a quiet blower keeps it inflated — so it costs a fraction of a permanent enclosure, goes up for the cold months, and comes down when you want your open-air pool back.
What does my backyard look like when the dome is down?
Exactly like it did before. The dome is a temporary, seasonal structure — when we take it down for the summer you get your open-air pool and backyard back, with full, normal access to the water. All that stays behind is a row of small anchors set into the deck, and they sit flush with the concrete, so you walk right over them without noticing.
Where does the dome go in the summer?
We can take the dome down at the end of the season, fold it, and store it for you until it's time to put it back up — so you don't need garage or shed space for it, and you don't have to handle the takedown yourself. Many owners use this as a yearly service: dome up in the fall, down in the spring, stored in between.
What is a pool dome?
An air-supported vinyl enclosure that covers your existing outdoor pool. A quiet blower keeps gentle air pressure inside so the dome holds its shape without poles or heavy framing.
Can I use my pool year-round with one?
Yes — the dome traps heat coming off the water and blocks wind, so the pool stays usable through the cold months. For extended use in very cold weather the pool should be heated.
Will it hold up in wind?
An inflated dome is built to take strong gusts. If a severe wind storm is coming and you're home, you can switch the blower off and let the dome settle onto the water, where it behaves like a pool cover. Turning the pressure up makes it stiffer and more wind-resistant.
What about snow?
Light to moderate snow melts off on its own, because heat from the pool water is trapped under the dome. Before a heavy storm you can switch the blower off so it rests on the water like a cover. If a lot of snow builds up while it's inflated, the weight gradually lowers the dome to the water surface over several hours; the snow melts and the dome re-inflates.
Do I have to run the blower all the time?
No. Many owners collapse the dome by switching the blower off when they're done swimming, then re-inflate it (about half an hour) before the next swim. This is fine for the dome and can also reduce pool heating costs.
Will it get foggy or humid inside?
Some humidity and fog are normal, especially when it's cold outside, because cooler incoming air meets the warm pool water. The colder it is outside, the more humid it tends to feel inside.
Is it safe?
The entry can be locked, so the dome doubles as a barrier that helps keep children from entering the pool area unsupervised. We recommend keeping clear deck space inside the perimeter so anyone in the water always has an easy way out. If power is lost, the dome lowers gradually rather than dropping, leaving time to exit safely.
What do I need to have for one?
A pool with a surrounding deck the dome can be anchored into. Dome anchors are designed to resist strong vertical lift, which is different from the flat anchors used for a standard pool cover.
Do you only do pools, or other backyard spaces too?
Pools are our main focus, but the same air-supported dome works over other backyard spaces — including a pickleball, tennis, or basketball court. If you've got a court you'd like to keep using through the winter, ask us and we'll see what fits.
